Lee County Building Activity Shines in 2013

LEE COUNTY BUILDING ACTIVITY SHINES IN 2013

Contractors last year pulled 860 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at nearly $195 million in unincorporated Lee County. The number of permits and value increased 55 percent over 2012, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development (www.lee-county.com/dcd/). Also in 2013, 352 multi-family units were permitted, up 86 percent over 2012. General commercial activity for 2013 was valued at nearly $56.5 million, including a $9.8 million Residence Inn by Marriott in Gulf Coast Town Center and improvements to the Minnesota Twins facilities. In 2012, commercial permitting was valued at more than $66 million, including expansions at Chico’s and improvements at Lee Memorial’s HealthPark campus. Lee County Community Development issued 37,500 permits of all kinds during 2013, up 16 percent over 2012.
