New Director for Lee County Economic Development Office

NEW DIRECTOR FOR LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

Rick Michael of Port Orange has been named the next director of the Lee County Economic Development Office, which is responsible for bringing new business to the county and fostering growth of existing businesses. He replaces former EDO Director Jim Moore, who retired in August from the post. Michael has a 25-plus-year career in economic and community development, including his most recent work for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners. Michael previously served as director of the Volusia County Department of Economic Development and as the assistant director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Industry Council. Before working in Florida, he was executive director of the Indiana County (Pa.) Chamber of Commerce as well as the Indiana County Development Corporation. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the Center for Organizational Management at the University of Notre Dame. He takes up his new post on Jan. 23.
