Relocating Families can Rely on the Chamber

By: Christine Ross, MBA, MS, CCE ,IOM, President & CEO, Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director, Bonita Springs Estero Economic Development Council

We continue to have great economic development news to share in Bonita Springs and Estero with the addition of Hertz Rental Equipment Corporation (HERC) and the finance division of The Camuto Group  on the heels of the Hertz Global Headquarters relocation to Estero.

This news is bringing hundreds of jobs and wonderful press to our flourishing region.  It is also bringing relocating partners and family members who are seeking employment at our local businesses.  Recently, this trend has consistently found its way to most conversations I’ve been having at meetings and networking events. It is an important topic that we, as a community, must address together.

To be more proactive, our staff is reaching out to Career Source Southwest Florida and meeting with individuals to assess how we might support their job search efforts.  Our Chamber job bank is chock full of interesting opportunities and each week new jobs are posted by local businesses.  We are marketing this free community resource regularly and see the user rate in both the job and resume bank increasing each month.  We are passionate about making sure that those families who are relocating successfully integrate in every area of their lives be it schools, jobs, sports and social activities.

Our Young Professionals group, successfully lead by Board Member, Alan Gaunt and Chamber staff member Chelsea Birczak, have proactively collected contacts and are now seeing attendance at their monthly events soar well past 100 participants.  As a new professional to the area, this is a perfect place to network and make friends.  The Chamber is engaging the Young Professionals in our committees and on the Board of Directors because we want and need to be driving our programming to suit their interests.

So, if you are new to the area and need a hand connecting with all of the new assets in Southwest Florida, contact the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce at (239) 992-2943 and www.BonitaSpringsChamber.com.  We’ll be glad to do our part to help you get successfully settled in your newly adopted home.
