Downtown Improvements Project -Update #4

An update from the City of Bonita Springs on the Downtown Improvements Project


As you know, staff sent out an update on 8-31-15, a press release about the road closure on 9-21-15 and forwarded photos of the start of road work on 9/22/15 to continue to keep you informed about the Downtown Improvements Project.  City staff, Wright Construction and the public information consultant, Cella Molnar & Associates (CMA), has been working hard to  keep property owners, businesses, event planners, and the general public informed about construction activities.

The next update is as follows:

The following activities are scheduled or have recently occurred:  

Old 41 Road to Wilson Detour constructed and opened – September 21 

Maintenance of traffic is being adjusted to facilitate traffic flow.  Additional stop signs will be installed on Felts Ave at the Reynolds St. Intersection and on west bound Wilson Street at the Felts Ave intersection.  The adjustments to the Maintenance of Traffic Plan are designed to facilitate the northbound traffic movements through the project area – week of September 21 

Demolition of Old 41 began – September 21 

Work started on valve relocation on Riverside Park connector – September 21 

Business surveys – continues 

Ribbon cutting ceremony –  was held on September 17 

Business Assistance Guide delivered – week of September 21 

Coordination meeting held with Assistant Principal at Gulf Middle School to coordinate a pedestrian route plan to be shown on school television in the mornings 

Requested A & S Transportation and Lee County school buses (empty) use US 41 instead of Old 41 

Coordination with representatives of the events continues 

A look ahead of what to expect:

BSU installation work at intersection of Old 41 Road and Wilson starts – week of September 28 

Demolition of Community Hall to begin – week of September 28 

Dewatering begins on Old 41 – week of September 28
