Choose party affiliation before Tuesday, Feb 16th to vote in March 15th Election

CHOOSE YOUR PARTY AFFILIATION ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH TO VOTE FOR YOUR CANDIDATE IN THE MARCH 15, 2016 PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY ELECTION

Fort Myers, FL (January 19, 2016) – Florida is a closed primary state; only voters who are registered members of the respective political party’s candidates can vote for those candidate nominees in a primary election. That means you have to be registered as a Republican to receive a Republican ballot and you have to be registered a Democrat to receive a Democratic ballot.  You may not vote for a candidate in another party affiliation other than your own in a primary election. You have to choose to register as a Republican or as a Democrat to vote for the candidate of your choice in the March 15, 2016 Florida Presidential Preference Primary.

A change of party affiliation must be made on a Florida voter registration application. You may access an application on our website www.lee.vote under the VOTER tab. The Florida voter registration application must be received in one of the Lee County Supervisor of Elections four office locations no later than 5:00 p.m. February 16, 2016 or postmarked February 16, 2016.
