Southwest Florida International Airport Reports January Traffic


 FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 24, 2016) – During January, 918,929 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 7.5 percent compared to January 2015. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 7.5 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in January was Southwest with 185,439 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (170,564), American (127,384), Spirit (102,871) and JetBlue (102,085).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,909 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 5.6 percent compared to January 2015. Page Field saw 9,031 movements, a 2.6 percent increase from January 2015. In addition, more than 2.5 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January 2016, a decrease of 6.8 percent compared to January 2015.
